B.F.A. Ceramics

My faith in Jesus Christ shapes every aspect of my life, including my creative process. My
artwork reveals the inner workings of my mind and conveys meaning through color, form, and
narrative. Themes of creation, brokenness, and redemption emerge through my use of clay and
oil paint. Working with clay allows me to connect with the artwork in a deeply tactile and
grounding way—shaping and refining each vessel, applying underglaze and glaze with care. In
contrast, oil painting invites a more contemplative practice, as I explore inner experiences and
beliefs through naturalistic imagery and blended brushstrokes.

Symbolism plays a central role in my work. The tension between spirituality and physicality
appears through the interplay of light, darkness, and color, and through natural and figural
elements. For instance, hands reaching toward the light from the shadow embody the act of
clinging to hope in the midst of a broken world. Flowers recur throughout my ceramics and
paintings as symbols of fragility, beauty, and growth. Color serves as a powerful vehicle for
emotion—warm, luminous hues expressing joy and vitality, while darker tones represent trials
such as depression, loneliness, and fear.

I invite viewers to approach my work with openness and honesty. Though it is rooted in my faith,
it reflects universal aspects of the human experience. I hope it offers an encounter with beauty,
rest, and courage. Even in seasons of hardship, I strive to create work imbued with light—work
that mirrors the Creator who made me and continues to shape me. He gives meaning and
purpose to all I am and all I do.

All for His glory.
