B.F.A. Hot Glass

My artistic practice is rooted in creation as a means of both expression and exploration. Drawing from personal experiences and a fascination with the human condition, I approach artmaking as a dialogue between myself and the material. Working primarily in 3D, I favor a hands-on, intuitive process that allows form and substance to guide me toward unexpected outcomes.

While my works encompass a variety of media, I’ve found a home in glassblowing. Working with glass can be extremely unpredictable, frustrating, and magical all at the same time. It’s a fast-paced process that requires quick thinking and an understanding that the piece can crack or shatter at any moment. I’ve learned to persevere and truly appreciate when a piece comes to fruition. Drawn to large-scale forms, I continue to experiment and push the sculptural bounds of glass.

Utilizing the process of glass casting, I extend this investigation into more deliberate, accumulated forms. I create organic, abstract structures that suggest growth, mutation, and interdependence. These works do not exist in isolation; rather, they operate as part of an evolving system in which each form informs the next. The adjoining Spirals, Freaktiniopolis, and Intrinsic Nature pieces emerge as interconnected elements within a larger environment.

Together, these forms construct immersive spaces that oscillate between the familiar and the uncanny. They invite viewers to move through a landscape that feels at once bodily and otherworldly- fragile yet persistent, chaotic yet ordered. In this space, I aim to hold a tension between instability and cohesion, encouraging a mode of looking that is intentional, curious, and open-ended.
