B.F.A. Graphic Design
This body of work explores the emotional and psychological atmosphere created through
subtle variations of light and calm blue tones. Inspired by moments of quiet observation—often
experienced late at night—the work reflects the stillness that emerges when external
distractions fade, and internal thoughts become more present. Rather than presenting a
defined narrative, the exhibition creates an immersive environment that encourages viewers to
slow down, pause, and enter a space of introspection.
Through controlled lighting, cyan-filtered projections, and deliberate spatial arrangement, the
installation transforms familiar visual elements into something emotionally open and
contemplative. Soft gradients of blue move across surfaces, while diffused light alters depth
and perception, guiding the viewer through a quiet, sensory experience. The use of blue acts as
both a visual and psychological anchor, evoking calmness while also suggesting distance,
depth, and vulnerability. By minimizing visual noise and emphasizing atmosphere, the work
invites viewers to become aware of their own emotional state within the space. This approach
builds on my previous work, which prioritizes mood and internal experience over direct
representation.
My connection to blue and stillness comes from personal moments of solitude—times when the
world feels suspended, and reflection becomes unavoidable. These experiences inform my
interest in creating environments that feel both intimate and expansive. In response to the
overstimulating pace of daily life, I aim to offer an alternative space where quiet becomes
intentional rather than absent.
Influenced by contemporary installation practices that engage sensory perception and spatial
awareness, this project considers how subtle visual shifts can shape emotional response.
Within the context of a group exhibition, the work functions as a point of contrast—slowing the
visual and sensory pace while complementing surrounding works through its restraint. It
becomes a space for pause within a larger collective dialogue.
Ultimately, this exhibition invites viewers to experience a sense of familiarity without fixed
definition—an environment that feels calm, open, and emotionally accessible. By focusing on
atmosphere rather than narrative, the work encourages a temporary withdrawal from external
pressures and offers a moment of stillness. In doing so, it reinforces my ongoing exploration of
how light, color, and space can shape quiet but meaningful emotional experiences.
