Brooke Ranney
B.F.A. Graphic Design
I began my artistic journey as a self-taught artist and spent my childhood pursuing drawing and painting. After taking a break from art throughout high school and the first two years of college, I realized that my passion for creating was more than just a hobby. Returning to my practice allowed me to reconnect with the creative curiosity that originally inspired me and continue developing my artistic voice.
Â
My style reflects a deep understanding of various mediums developed through my collegiate experience and explores inclusive methods of design through digital processes and creative illustration. The subjects of my paintings primarily focus on intricate details and the beauty of nature, while my digital work embraces a warm, modern aesthetic.
Â
Throughout my journey, I have struggled with finding my artistic voice and expanding my imagination beyond realistic references. By focusing too heavily on a perfectionist mindset, I realized that some of my earlier works lacked creative expression. I believe the most compelling works of art communicate personal experiences, emotions, and philosophical ideas. Because of this, I now strive to capture details from real life while blending them with theoretical and imaginative impressions. Stepping outside of my comfort zone was a challenging, yet essential step in discovering and strengthening my creative voice.
